Bridging the Gap: Key Insights from ASW’s Panel on Brand-Creator Collaboration

At Affiliate Summit West (ASW), Courtney Rieker, our Director of Influencer Brand Management, moderated the panel titled ‘Bridging the Gap Between Brand and Creator Expectations.’ The conversation highlighted three essential components that drive successful paid collaborations: communication, trust, and empowerment. This recap highlights the valuable insights shared by the panelists.
First, communication and education are vital. As the influencer space rapidly evolves, brands must maintain open lines of communication with influencers. Educating them on campaign objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and how to measure ROI ensures everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.
Second, trust and transparency are foundational. Brands should give influencers creative control to do what they do best. Avoiding overly prescriptive messaging allows for authentic content that resonates with audiences. After all, we’re not creating commercials—we’re collaborating with individuals who know their audiences best.
Finally, empowerment plays a critical role. Many influencers are small business owners, and building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships is key. Providing opportunities for incentivization and supporting creators in their entrepreneurial journey fosters a more impactful and sustainable relationship between brands and influencers.
By focusing on these core principles, brands, and creators can build stronger, more effective partnerships that drive meaningful results.
